• Writing Sundays with Ana McCracken

During our four weeks together (March 27, April 3, 10, 24 from 2 to 4 PM CT), each session will begin with a half-hour craft talk and discussion. Topics may include but not limited to dialog, setting scenes, or sensory details. Following we will write together from writing prompts for 90-minutes. Writing prompts are a means of generating new ideas, unearthing buried memories, a way to practice writing. Writers are invited to read aloud. Additionally, you may send Ana two pieces of writing (700 to 900 words) during the course of the month for comments. Details will be provided after registration. This four-week session is open to 10 writers. Classes, for now, will be held on Zoom. Pricing ($55 – $75) is offered on a sliding scale basis to offer access to writers. Your fee will directly support the Ames Writers Collective and its programming. Register via email to state the amount you are comfortable paying. An invoice will be sent to you.

“I learned things I didn’t expect with Ana. I might say, I took some things in and rejected a few others. This was possible because of the very graceful way that Ana teaches and supports students.”

“I loved the small micro memoir format Ana taught. I think for most students it was an eye opener to think that small pieces make a whole picture.”
